The ancient bean has been cultivated on the Indian subcontinent for 3,000 to 4,000 years and is now widespread throughout South and Southeast Asia. A wide variety of Indian sweets and snacks such as Laddu, Halwa or Burfi can be prepared with this type of flour. Urid flour is also ideal as a sauce thickener or as an ingredient for Roti, Chapati, Dosa or Pakora.
